de la poblaci\u00f3n, pero en cambio el 14% de los casos de contagio constatados en todo el mundo<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Uno de cada cuatro centros de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica en el mundo carece de suministro de agua, lo que expone a los trabajadores sanitarios y pacientes a un mayor riesgo de infecci\u00f3n por coronavirus, alert\u00f3 hoy la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud (OMS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aproximadamente 1.800 millones de personas se atienden o trabajan en locales sanitarios que no cuentan con servicios b\u00e1sicos de agua, advierten la OMS y el Fondo de las Naciones Unidas para la Infancia (Unicef) en un informe conjunto desarrollado a partir de datos de 165 pa\u00edses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;Trabajar en un establecimiento de salud sin agua, saneamiento e higiene es casi como enviar enfermeras y m\u00e9dicos a trabajar sin equipo de protecci\u00f3n individual&#8221;, indic\u00f3 el director general de la OMS, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tedros record\u00f3 que &#8220;el suministro de agua, el saneamiento y la higiene en los centros de salud son esenciales para contener el Covid-19&#8221;, citado por la agencia francesa de noticias AFP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seg\u00fan la OMS, la proporci\u00f3n de profesionales sanitarios infectados por Covid-19 es mucho mayor en estos lugares que en el resto: representan menos del 3% de la poblaci\u00f3n, pero en cambio el 14% de los casos de contagio constatados en todo el mundo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;Enviar a profesionales sanitarios y personas que necesitan tratamiento a centros sin agua limpia, sanitarios seguros o inclusive jab\u00f3n, pone en riesgo su vida&#8221;, afirm\u00f3 por su parte la directora general de Unicef, Henrietta Fore.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El informe revela que uno de cada cuatro centros de salud en el mundo no cuenta con suministro de agua, uno de cada tres no ofrece una higiene de manos en los lugares de atenci\u00f3n, y uno de cada diez no tiene acceso al saneamiento, as\u00ed como uno de cada tres no clasifica sus desechos de manera eficaz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Esta situaci\u00f3n se vuelve mucho m\u00e1s catastr\u00f3fica en los 47 pa\u00edses menos adelantados del planeta: uno de cada dos centros de salud no cuenta con servicios b\u00e1sicos de agua potable, uno de cada cuatro no tiene donde lavarse las manos en los propios sitios en que se brinda la atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica, y tres de cada cinco no tienen acceso a los servicios b\u00e1sicos de saneamiento, agrega el informe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La OMS y la Unicef calculan que el costo de instalar servicios de suministro de agua en establecimientos sanitarios en los 47 pa\u00edses menos avanzados ser\u00eda de 1 d\u00f3lar per c\u00e1pita.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El promedio para hacer funcionar y el mantenimiento de estos servicios requerir\u00eda 0,20 d\u00f3lar por habitante al a\u00f1o, concluye el
