NEARLY 700 COLOMBIAN CHILDREN TOOK PART

As the first cycle of the Water Olympics in Colombia comes to an end, the Association presents the participation indicators, the first winners, and the next countries for the program

In the last issue of Aguas Latinoamerica, we wrote about the success of the ALADYR WATER OLYMPICS. This article updates the information with the impressive participation indicators of the event organized by our Association’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

The activities occurred between September and November. Twenty-nine schools from 18 cities in Colombia participated as part of the pilot project, which will later spread throughout Latin America. Nearly 700 children were involved in the experience.

It was a cycle of 4 masterclasses in which the children connected to the ALADYR platform learned about the following topics:

  • Water and pollutants – Emerging pollutants
  • Water Reuse and Treatment – Technological Solutions
  • The Desalination Process – An Alternative for Water Supply
  • Water Footprint –  How can we make efficient use of water daily?

Once the students completed their master classes, they participated in a trivia contest. The winners were four students who had outstanding results:

  • Water and pollutants – Emerging pollutants

Nicolás Fernando Agudelo Moulin

Colegio Claustro Moderno – Bogota

  • Water Reuse and Treatment – Technological Solutions

Laura Vanessa Barón

Instituto Caldas– Bucaramanga

  • The Desalination Process – An Alternative for Water Supply

Juan Manuel Duque Cañas

In 2021, we will repeat this activity throughout Latin America, and the lecturers will be renowned international leaders in the desalination and water reuse industry who are representing ALADYR partner companies. The goal is to promote knowledge and sow the seeds of citizen awareness regarding the efficient use of drinking water and the opportunities for treating water to guarantee this precious resource.
